Logic Apps Event Grid Resource Gotcha

Overview

The purpose of this article is to highlight an issue with the Logic App trigger for Event Grid which caused several hours of wasted time and effort.

When using the Event Grid Resource trigger there is a little button to switch the Event Type: Pressing this button provides you a simple text box to type in the name of the event, if you use this approach, when you save the Logic App it will likely fail when registering the subscription in the Event Grid Topic: The error message is so undescriptive, it literally just indicates the error code is "BadRequest" and the fact "The request is invalid". It left me stumpted for many an hour but in the end, all it takes is to switch the Event Type back to the array version in the Logic App Trigger... facepalm
